Climax Cars from UK has announced more details about their speedster-style road-legal track car, that will go against the likes of Ariel Atom V8 and Caparo T1.
Sports Racer will be limited to just 200 examples, with power supplied by a Ford Racing 4.6-litre V8 that produces 345 bhp and 305 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration from 0-60 takes just 3.7 seconds and the top speed is in excess of 170 mph (273 kph).
Supercharged version (Racer S) is also available with 450 bhp. Power is sent to rear axle via a 6-speed Graziano GT ME1 gearbox.
Body of the Sports racer is made of aluminum and the chassis from extruded aluminum, making the total weight of the car just 1,999 pounds (907 kg). It has a very impressive power-to-weight ratio of 380 bhp per tonne on base model and 458 bhp on the supercharged version.
The Sports Racer is perfect for track days as it features fully-adjustable double-wishbone suspension at all four corners. Different options include ceramic brakes, full race harnesses and sequential and semi-automatic gearboxes.
Production is limited to just 200 units, with prices starting at £92,000 ($150,000) in the UK and there is no information will this lightweight racer make it to the States or not.
