Honda Accord Hybrid goes into production

by SpeedLux

Honda has recently released details of the 2014 Accord Hybrid which has just entered the production phase at the company’s plant in Marysville, Ohio.

The company has claimed it to be the most fuel-efficient gasoline-powered four-door sedan in America. The model comes equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine and a 166 hp (124 kW) electric motor. This setup enables the car to return 50 mpg city / 45 mpg highway / 47 mpg combined (US) which is a little higher than the company’s original estimates.

Other highlights of the model include LED daytime running lights, blue accents, unique alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and hybrid badging. In the interiors, we can see a new infotainment display that allows drivers to see their instant fuel economy and the status of the hybrid system.

As per Mike Accavitti, the Senior Vice President of auto operations at American Honda, “Even before it hits showrooms this fall, the Accord Hybrid is already surpassing the competition and claiming segment leadership.” He further stated that for customers looking for a 50 mpg rated 4-door sedan, there is no other option available currently other than the 2014 Accord Hybrid.
