2014 Opel Adam crossover coming late next year – report

Opel had unveiled the Adam Rocks concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year and now a new report is indicating the model is headed towards the production phase.

The report by the car magazine states that one of the sources familiar with the project stated that the production model will have crossover-inspired styling with plastic body cladding and an increased ride height. Opel hopes that these changes will help them to lure buyers and also make them move away from models like the Fiat Panda 4×4 and Volkswagen Cross Up!

Talking about engines, options will likely carryover from the standard Adam and so we can expect petrol choices to include a 1.2-liter generating an output of 70 HP (51 kW) and a 1.4-liter with outputs of 87 HP (64 kW) and 100 HP (74 kW). There are rumors that the model may also be offered with the new 1.0-liter three-cylinder SIDI Turbo that would produce an output of 115 HP (85 kW) and 166 Nm (122 lb-ft) of torque.

The model is slated to go on sale in the late part of next year and may also carry a modest price premium.
