Mitsubishi has recently revealed some new details about the company’s future product lineup in an interview.

Speaking to Automotive News, Mitsubishi President Osamu Masuko said that the company is starting to recover but he wants to rebuild and improve their business in the United States. While he did mention that it would be very difficult to return to 2002 levels, Masuko still has pretty ambitious plans and wishes to sell 100,000 units annually in the United States by the end of March 2017.

To achieve this ambitious target, the company has tied up with Nissan-Renault. The executive said that Mitsubishi is still evaluating its options but the company is considering a shared platform for the Galant successor. He went on to say that the D segment is not that big of a segment for the company, so he thinks rebadging is OK.

Osamu Masuko also confirmed company’s plans for a plug-in hybrid Pajero and hinted that it could be offered in the market of the United States. Masuko also suggested that the next-generation i-MiEV could be larger than its predecessor.
