Volkswagen has released a new teaser image of the new next-generation 2015 Passat, ahead of its full introduction next month.
The new eight-generation EU spec model teaser shows us little of the front fascia with LED-infused headlights, hood and muscular wheel arches.
Reportedly the new model will be little smaller than the outgoing model, featuring aluminum and high-strength steel construction, cutting up to 85 kg (188 lbs) from its total weight compared to its predecessor.
The new Passat will be launched first as a sedan, followed soon by a more practical wagon and an Alltrack version with an higher clearance and beefier looks. A four-door CC based on the Passat is also likely to continue to be part of the range.
Full engine range has not been confirmed, but few details are out and there is certainly a twin-turbo 2.0-liter TDI engine with 240 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque connected to a seven-speed DSG transmission and an all-wheel drive system.
A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also part of the range, using most likely a 1.4-liter TSI and a 102 hp electric motor.
