During the Paris Motor Show next week, Volkswagen has decided to go with its official premier next week. But even before that it has uncovered the plug-in hybrid Passat GTE. After the limited versions, runXL1 and Golf CTE, the sedan is designed by the German manufacturer. The coupe is the third plug-in hybrid inspired by the eight generation Passat. The sale is supposed to commence in 2015 after the half, during which both saloon and estate body styles will be available.
The look and feel of the GTE varies from the usual Passat. It has a radiator grille of blue inflection, front bumper which is recycled and incorporated with LED lights in C-shape and the alloy wheels, bigger in size. The interior is stunning with blue tone lighting, completely revamped gear knob and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with flat bottom. The coupe receives power from the petrol-electric hybrid system, in which an altered version of the 1.4 liter TSA petrol unit which can accelerate up to 156 Hp is included. The petrol unit of the sedan is sustained by 115 HP and 400 Nm of electric motor.
The total output is 218 HP, where the transmission is mechanical with a six-speed dual clutch. The standard fuel consumption is calculated to be 2.0 l per 100 kilometer.
