Sure, there have been some cars out there that are capable of taking its driver and passengers fly to the sky, right after traveling on the road. However, it seems that none of them is quite perfect just yet. Perhaps this is one of the very reasons why a company from Slovakia has decided to join the world of the flying cars. For your information, this is not the first time this company has created such a car that is able to fly after driving on the roads. As a matter of fact, this is already the company’s third attempt.
Known as the AeroMobil, this particular Slovakian company has managed to manufacture a car that can transform into a plane, and the other way round, in only several seconds. To make it possible, the car has to be able to accommodate all the crucial parts of a car and a plane, such as the wings. As a result, the car ends up measuring quite long, six meters in total. As a car, it is more than two meters wide and when it finally transforms into a plane, it will become even wider. When the car becomes a plane, it has to expand its collapsible wings and as a result, the car becomes very wide, measuring more than eight meters altogether in terms of width.
Dubbed the AeroMobil 3.0, this transforming car has its body made of the avionics equipment in addition to composite materials. According to the company in charge of the development of this particular vehicle, the final version of the product may even incorporate such things as autopilot as well as parachute deployment system.
Unlike a full scale real life airplane, the AeroMobil 3.0 only needs several hundred meters of runway before it can take off. This is possible thanks to the ability of the wings to adjust to various angles. Yet, when it comes to landing, the vehicle is equipped with a suspension system that will help it land as smoothly as possible even on rough terrains.
For those who wonder where the vehicle gets its power from, well, there is a 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Rotax 912 engine available, complete with a water cooling system. Thankfully, buyers of this vehicle need not buy aviation fuel because the car runs on the regular petrol used by normal cars. As a car, the fuel consumption lies at 8 liters/100 km and as a plane, it is 15 liters/hour. As a car, the AeroMobil 3.0 has a top speed of 161 km/h. Yet, when it turns into a plane, the top speed rises to 200 km/h.
