Even before the luxury US automaker Cadillac launches its latest generation ATS-V model, there have been rumors swirling around the World Wide Web pages in respect to the car. As a result, it is only natural for automotive enthusiasts, especially those with 24/7 internet connection, to be expecting the eventual arrival of the car. Well, it seems that there may be good news for these people. Only recently, a Cadillac test mule was spotted and the best thing about it was that it hardly had any camouflage at all. Judging by the model, the odds were high that the prototype would actually end up as the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe.
Slated to rival the M4 from the luxury German automaker BMW, the test mule spotted sports a mesh chrome front grille, a front splitter made of the carbon fiber material, an engine hood that features heat vents, a lip spoiler attached to the rear trunk, extended side skirts and a rather big body. As if those are not enough, the exhaust system has a quad-pipe configuration with chrome accent, bespoke alloy wheels wrapped in black paint, low profile tires and carbon ceramic disc brakes.
When it comes to performance, it is very likely that the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is going to pack a 3.6L V6 engine with twin turbochargers. The engine is likely to be mated to an automatic 8-speed transmission as well as an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain as an option. Power output may lie somewhere around 425 bhp.
Although these are just probabilities right now, it’s not going to take long for the official details to be revealed. As confirmed by Cadillac itself, the ATS-V Sedan will make its debut when the Los Angeles Auto Show opens its doors to the public next month. Hence, chances are, the company is going to introduce the ATS-V Coupe as well. Either that, or Cadillac will be taking the veil off the ATS-V Coupe at the NAIAS event in Detroit in January next year.
