Daimler Shows Interest in Russian Factory

The parent company of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler-Chrysler, has recently shown its interest in building a new factory. This factory will be based in Russia. As a matter of fact, according to reports, the conglomerate from Germany has even filed an application with the St. Petersburg, asking for a permission to establish a new car plant not so far from the city. Yet, it seems that the St. Petersburg may not be the only city to have the honor of having a Daimler factory built on its land.

It is reported that the German company is also considering if it is possible for it to establish another car factory in Russia, this time in Moscow. The company is taking its time to consider this as its application is currently being reviewed by the municipal investment committee of the St. Petersburg.

However, the company really does not want people out there to misunderstand about the process that is currently taking place at the moment. To those speculating that the deal is done, Daimler is quickly denying it. According to the German automaker, no decision whatsoever has been made up to this point of time when it comes to starting production of Mercedes-Benz vehicle lineups in the Russian Federation, especially for its passenger cars.

One thing that is very interesting to note here is that most companies will usually ignore this superpower European country due to its very complicated laws. This results in the company losing more and more value in the international world. However, as mentioned earlier, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, seems determined to build one factory or even more in the country. This is a move that really goes against the norm in these modern day competition in the automotive industry. Nonetheless, perhaps Daimler is well aware that it has a huge market segment to target in Russia.
