Rumors have been swirling around the World Wide Web pages lately in regards to a luxury automaker from Germany, Audi. It is said that the German automaker in question is working hard on at least two variants of new electric vehicles (EVs) that it will release sometime in the year 2018. It is said that the German automaker under the Volkswagen Group plans to compete with the likes of BMW and Tesla.
As reported by the GT Spirit, one of the two new EV models that Audi is planning to launch will be a sports activity vehicle, or the SAV for short. For this vehicle model in particular, Audi is likely to equip it with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain. The car will most likely be able to reach a distance measuring 500 km in total on only a single battery charge. Needless to say, this will be very convenient because future owners of this upcoming vehicle model from the German automaker will not have to worry about finding some charging stations to recharge their car battery.
In addition to the sport activity vehicle (SAV) model that Audi is prepping, the company will reportedly launch an entirely electric sports car as well. It is said that this one will be coming in the form of the Audi R8 e-tron, yet in its production ready state. Speaking of the Audi R8 e-tron, this is not going to be the first time the German automaker introduces the model. This model was first introduced some time ago. Yet, for some unknown reasons, the German automaker decided to cancel its production.
In order to make it possible for the company to develop and launch the two new EV models mentioned above, the German automaker has invested additional funds totaling $2.4 billion.
With that being said, Audi will have had a total investment value of approximately $22 billion by the year 2019.
