Honda FCV Concept Bows at Detroit

Honda is one of the global automakers that are trying to get the best out of the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) event that is currently greeting the people in Detroit, US. The Japanese automaker in question has brought its highly anticipated fuel cell vehicle, the FCV, concept to the event. The production version of the car will reportedly be mostly, if not entirely, similar to the concept previewed on the 2015 Detroit Auto Show stage.

On the exterior, the car looks not only aerodynamic but also very futuristic, albeit it may seem rather weird to some. The car has its roofline sloping down gently to its rear fascia, to begin with. In addition to that, unlike other cars, it has quite a decent number of air intakes that are aimed at reducing drag by channeling the air more efficiently. The car also sports LED headlamps and sits on a set of aerodynamic looking wheels.

This FCV from Honda will be able to seat five passengers in total. Passengers of the vehicle will get to enjoy the comfort of a premium cabin, thanks to metallic accents, wood trim and premium leather material used inside the cabin. Buyers of the vehicle will also be able to find a vehicle infotainment system with a floating design, a futuristically looking instrument panel and a steering wheel inspired by that of a plane.

So far, the Japanese company in charge of developing this particular vehicle is not keen on giving out the vehicle’s technical details. However, the company reveals that the car will be equipped with the company’s new fuel cell engine which is smaller than the one the company installs underneath the hood of its FCX Clarity. This new Honda FCV is said to be able to reach a total distance of 482 km on a single charge and Honda claims that the refueling time will not be more than three mere minutes.

Honda will reportedly start sales of the FCV in the oncoming 2016, with the US and European markets to follow shortly after.
