If you happen to be quite a huge fan of the Italian automaker, Alfa Romeo, there may well be good news for you. Sergio Marchionne, CEO Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has made an official company announcement that his company will be launching a completely new sedan model no later than this year itself. The announcement has come at the stage of this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) event.
Previously, some people had managed to snap some pictures of the vehicle in question. The spy pictures seem to depict a new sedan test mule from the company that is wrapped in the body panel of the Maserati Ghibli. Word has it the all new sedan from Alfa Romeo will make its debut in Italy on June 24, 2015. That will be when the company celebrates its centennial anniversary. And, if the hint from Marchionne is to be taken seriously, it is more than likely that the upcoming sedan from the company will bear the Giulia moniker.
It is believed that the upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia model will be very suitable for the slot between the 3- and 5-Series from the luxury German automaker, BMW. It will reportedly count on a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Giorgio drivetrain from Maserati, with the possibility of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) version being offered for some higher trims. At the top of the range, the GTA trim, the Giulia sedan is believed to boast a peak power output of 520 bhp. The power should come from a 3.0L V6 engine with twin turbochargers.
The Italian automaker in charge of the Giulia, Alfa Romeo, will reportedly launch a new sport utility vehicle (SUV) model as well after the launch of its said sedan model. This one seems to aim at the likes of the Audi Q5. Alfa Romeo will most likely assemble both the sedan and SUV models at its Cassino plant in Rome, Italy.
