An automaker that has been specializing in big vehicles, such as SUV, crossover and the likes, Jeep, has now announced its plan of a new creation. The company has made it official to the public that it is planning to offer its loyal customers with a crossover that will come out in a smaller size when compared to the company’s Renegade subcompact vehicle model.
Mike Manly, the CEO at the company, has pointed that out at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) event this week. He claims that the small SUV segment in the automotive industry is steadily growing and that Jeep is paying close attention to the segment. However, Manly also reveals that the automaker in question is also concerned at the moment about what such a vehicle model can really offer to the customers. After all, Manly believes, cars that come with a smaller size are normally less capable and yet, capability is often the key point of any vehicles that Jeep has to offer for all these years.
As if that issue alone is not enough, Manly also adds that it is not an easy task to slot a vehicle below the company’s Renegade model. According to Manly, this will make it pretty hard for Jeep to gain profits, not to mention if the car will be manufactured outside the local automotive market. Nevertheless, if the sub-Renegade crossover from Jeep eventually gets production green light, Manly points out that it will have a design philosophy that also bases the design of the Fiat Panda Cross vehicle model. As reported by the Autocar, that philosophy, according to the CEO of the automaker Jeep, is outstandingly ideal for cars with a rather small size.
Well, it seems that only time will tell what Jeep’s final decision will really be, after all.
