The XK SS vehicle model from the British automaker, Jaguar, is literally a model from the distant past. However, the model in question may well make an appearance in the global automotive market once again. At least, this is what John Edwards, the Managing Director of the Special Operations division of the Jaguar Land Rover, has pointed out quite recently. If this really happens, the vehicle model mentioned above will be produced as a limited edition model.
As reported by the Autovisie, quoting Edwards, the British automotive marquee is actually considering the successor to its Lightweight E-Type vehicle model. The latter was introduced by the British company some time last year. It is said that Edwards has unveiled Jaguar is thinking about three or four models to come up with, with the XK SS proving to be the potent major contender.
There is actually a reason why the British marquee seems to be very interested in reviving the model. As per the explanation that comes out of Edwards’ mouth, back in the days, there were twenty five examples of the Jaguar XK SS built in total. Unfortunately, nine examples of the model were destroyed when a fire took place. So, by building the model once again, the company will actually have a pretty interesting comeback story for the model. According to Edwards, this is crucial if an automaker is to recreate a classic vehicle model from the past.
So far, as reported by the Autovisie, quoting Motor Authority and Edwards himself, this is still purely a plan as of now. Needless to say, though, this does not necessarily mean that it is not going to happen at all. Yet, to know for sure whether or not there really will be a modern day Jaguar XK SS, it is seemingly best to wait until a little later this year. Reports indicate that the final decision will be coming from Jaguar by this year itself.
