It turns out that the luxury German automaker, BMW, is working on the next generation variant of the X3. A number of spy images depicting the vehicle have made their way to the World Wide Web pages just recently. Rumor has it, the car is going to have its world premiere held in the oncoming 2017. The spy images were captured while the car was undergoing factory tests close by the present generation BMW X3.
The upcoming X3 from BMW bears the codename G01. The spy images of the vehicle depicts that the car will bear similar shape to what the current generation model has to offer. However, its visual styling will be evolutionary enough to amaze consumers in the market, especially those loyal fans of the model. The car was wearing camouflage all over its body when it was caught on camera. However, it really is not that difficult to tell that the car features a rather low front grille that is wider when compared to that of the present generation model.
Stepping further to the rear fascia of the vehicle, we can see a flat windshield, backed by dual exhaust pipes. On the test mule caught on camera, the headlamps and taillights look unattractive. Nonetheless, there is nothing to worry since these are just used for testing. With that being said, the final production variant will sport completely different styling for the lighting clusters.
In terms of the engine options, they will most likely be similar to those offered on the present generation model, only with slight power increase potentially. There are also rumors indicating the presence of the M40i variant. This one will come with an engine featuring twin turbochargers and six inline cylinders. This engine bursts out 360 HP. An X3 M version will likely be available as well, with its power output reaching 422 HP. The car will come with either a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) drivetrain (standard) or xDrive drivetrain (optional) typical of BMW.
