The US automaker, Cadillac, has always been about luxury. Yet, this time, it seems that the company is about power as well. Believe it or not, it has now officially come up with a new engine. The engine in question will have twin turbochargers, 6 cylinders in the V configuration and also a total displacement capacity of three liters. According to reports around the interweb, this new 3.0L V6 engine with twin turbochargers is going to make its debut on the 2016 Cadillac CT6 model.
The luxury automaker from the US soil also goes as far as to claim that its new engine in question is in fact the highest density V6 DOHC engine that customers can possibly find all over the world. This engine, as the American company points out, delivers no less than 133 bhp of power for every liter of its displacement capacity. This translates to a total power output of 400 bhp. In addition to that, the engine also sends out no less than 543 Nm of torque. As Cadillac puts it, its new engine will even beat the 3.0L V6 supercharged engine of the Audi A7 and the 3.0L twin-turbo engine of the BMW 740Li.
Another interesting thing about this new engine from Cadillac is that it features start/stop technology in addition to cylinder deactivation system. Thanks to the latter, the engine can deactivate two cylinders when the driver is not demanding the maximum performance the engine can possibly offer. This, in turn, results in a 6% more efficient fuel consumption rate.
If reports are to be believed, this new engine from Cadillac will be making its way into the production phase no later than this year itself. The manufacturing process of the engine will be entrusted to the company’s assembly plant that is situated in Michigan, the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. After the production of this engine is completed, Cadillac will reportedly produce a new naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine as well.
