Audi Q7 e-Tron 3.0 TDI Quattro Goes on Tape

by David Bond

The next generation Audi Q7 e-Tron 3.0 TDI Quattro has now made an official video debut following its official unveiling at the recent Geneva Motor Show auto expo. This 2nd generation full-size SUV from the German company now comes with an electric-diesel hybrid engine. The car has its conventional 3.0L 6-cylinder TDI engine paired with an electric motor as well as a lithium-ion battery with a total capacity of 17.3 kWh.

With the aforementioned hybrid engine under its hood, this new SUV from the luxury German automaker now delivers 373 HP and 700 Nm of power and torque in total. Thanks to that, the car will take up no more than six seconds in order to sprint from a completely idle position to the speed of 100 km/h. Its top speed, meanwhile, is rated at 225 km/h. And, if you think that this new hybrid SUV from the luxury German marquee is a fuel waster, you had better think again. According to the Ingolstadt-based automaker, the car will consume no more than 1.7 liters of fuel for every one hundred kilometers of distance traveled. Also, while running on electric power alone, the car can reach a total distance of 56 km before requiring a recharge. Yet, when owners drive the car in the hybrid mode, they can expect to go as far as 1,410 km.

If you remember correctly, Audi has made an official announcement, hinting that the China-spec model will benefit from a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine instead. Yet, according to Ulrich Hackenberg, the development boss at Audi, the electric-diesel hybrid variant of the model may be released in more regions should demands prove to be high.

The Audi Q7 e-Tron 3.0 TDI Quattro will expectedly be available for orders starting from spring next year. The car will most likely go head to head against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 500e and the BMW X5 xDrive 40e.
