If you remember correctly, the latest CT6 from Cadillac just made its world premiere some time ago. Now, the luxury automotive marquee from the land of America has even indicated that a hybrid variant of the model is going to be available soon. According to the company, the hybrid CT6 will be heading to Shanghai, China, in order to attend the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show event.
As reported by the Autoblog, Mark Reuss, during an interview with the media at this year’s New York Auto Show event, mentioned that the Cadillac CT6 Hybrid would make its debut soon enough at the auto expo in Shanghai, which would kick off on April 20, 2015. For your information, Mark Reuss is the chief product officer at General Motors (GM) so he should know best what he is talking about. Unfortunately, there are no hardware details available so far. However, it is believed that the engine configuration will be somewhat similar to that of the 2016 model year Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid.
Well, in case you are not really aware of the spec sheet carried by the hybrid variant of the 2016 Chevy Malibu, the car comes with a 1.8L 4-cylinder conventional combustion engine, with a pair of electric motors keeping it company. These motors can also be found on the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, just so you know. With such a spec sheet, the latest Malibu model from Chevy can actually return a total power output of 182 bhp. Also, with its 1.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the car can go as fast as 88.5 km/h on electric power alone, though only for short distances.
More interestingly, according to Mark Reuss, GM is even considering the possibility of launching a V-Series variant of the Cadillac CT6 model. Yet, before it can do that, the company will first have to focus on the readily available engine options, which are, a 3.0L V6 engine with twin turbochargers, delivering 400 bhp of power output, a naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine with 335 bhp of power output and a 2.0L turbo engine with 265 bhp of power output.
