The Miami Vice Ferrari Testarossa, is up for sale

by SpeedLux

The legendary Ferrari Testarossa was reportedly being sold on eBay Motors a while ago however not much attention was given back then. However recently the iconic Miami Vice’s Ferrari is set to be sold for a third time at Mecum’s Monterey auction next month for an extremely bizarre price of $1.7 million. The 1980’s hit Television Show Miami Vice showed detective James ‘Sonny’ Crockett driving in a originally black (painted white) Daytona Spyder. However fans might have heard about the controversial lawsuit which was filed against the show by Ferrari because the white Daytona Spyder wasn’t an actualy horse but a replica of Daytona Spyder based on the Chevrolet Corvette.

Ferrari also convinced the producers to blow up the old fakes on the show and as a result the white fake Daytona Spyder exlpodes into pieces in the premiere of the third season. Enzo Ferrari then donated two black 1986 Testarossas to the show for the use in filming. The cars then were painted white once again to their original color. The Ferrari Testarossa is powered by a 4.9-liter flat-12 engine, one of the only boxer 12’s ever made, the Testarossa made 390-horsepower and 361 lb.-ft. of torque, and can sprint from 0-60 in a time of 5.2-seconds and a top speed of 180-mph.

It’s still uncertain whether C7 Corvette Z06 Lapped the Nurburgring in 7:08.

Earlier this year, a rumor was said to come out that the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has gone around “the ring” in less than seven minutes. However the rumor was debunked by officials. But in a surprising turn of events, Autoweek has claimed that the C7 Corvette Z06 lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in seven minutes and eight seconds. For the people keeping scores, this would mean that the Corvette Z06 would be placed at the most potent street-spec Corvette within a second of the 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo on the unofficial leaderboard. Furthermore this also means that the Corvette C7 would be placed behind a couple of Radicals, the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce and possibly the Nissan for the overall record.

However, sources say that the official “ban” of attempted lap timings by Nurburgring has forced Chevrolet to keep mum. When roadandtrack.com tried to approach General Motors about this query, the company recieved a reply stating “a flat out denial that the car turned that time.” That means that we have to just wait until the official timings are made public.
