Nokia is back with its good times now. It has sold its mapping and location services business HERE to Audi AG, the BMW Group and Daimler AG. The deal amount is learned to be $3 billion.
The three German auto makers have collectively acquired the mapping service and is believed they would be seeking for some investment in the new business from other manufacturers.
According to Nokia, the HERE service uses data generated by vehicles, devices and infrastructure as well to deliver users location services in real-time, well predictive one and also in personalized form to offer completely new class of driver experiences.
It is said the maps will not only be helpful to humans henceforth, but it will drive autonomous machines too.
The Nokia HERE is currently available as an app on iOS, Android and Windows Phone. It is not clear what the trio auto giants will do with it.
