The Porsche 911 Carrera S Review, what’s really missing?

by SpeedLux

The New Porsche 911 Carrera S has recently been reviewed by CarMagazineTV. Ever since Porsche made initial announcements about this car, a lot of fans seem to have had trouble understanding the reasoning behind the route Porsche have decided to take with this particular model. One of the major concerns was leaving behind the flat-six and opting for a new, turbocharged unit instead.

The 991.2, which is the code name for the facelifted model of the car, comes with a 3.0 liter twin turbo unit which provides 370 PS (365 hp) and 450 nM (332 lb-ft) of Torque for the Carrera and 420 PS (414 hp) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque for the Carrera S.

What this means is that both of the cars are going to pack more power and produce a better torque than the cars that preceded them. Even though the capacity has been slightly lowers. With lower emissions to make-do with new environmental regulations, the turbocharging does have it’s positives.

One of the biggest negatives that have stemmed from all these developments and one which is also quite apparent in the review as you’re going to see, is that the car seems to have lost it’s authentic sound that has become the identifier for it’s predecessors. The sound, modified by the turbochargers, doesn’t sound like the kind of sound you’d expect a Carrera to make. This one’s just our opinion though, so please feel free to check the video for yourself and see if you think similarly!
