Fiat Chrysler is currently recalling 1.1 million automobiles because they may roll away after motorists exit, the firm stated Friday.

The recall consists of cars with electronic shift levers that return to the very same position after each manipulation, consisting of Dodge Chargers with model years 2012 to 2014, Chrysler 300 sedans, and model-year 2014 to 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs, the firm said.

The voluntary recall follow the moment where federal regulators discovered that drivers were exiting their vehicles by mistake without picking “park,” regardless of cautioning chimes and alert messages when they open the doors. Over 40 injuries that are possibly related to the problem.

As part of the recall, Fiat Chrysler stated it would improve the cautions and add a transmission-shift technique to automatically prevent an automobile from moving, under particular circumstances, even if the motorist cannot select “park,” the firm stated.
