UK: Car clocking ban called for by councils

David BondPress Releases9 years ago22 Views

A proposed EU restriction on those companies that supply mileage “correction” for cars need to be retained by the UK and brought forward, the Local government Association states.

Figures demonstrated incidents of clocking, when a vehicle’s mileage dashboard display is decreased, increased by 10% in between March and October 2015.

The LGA also desires mileage correction devices to be prohibited.

An existing legal loophole implies it is not illegal to alter a vehicle’s mileage.
It is deceitful to intentionally sell a clocked car without divulging that its odometer has been changed.

Changing the mileage can artificially increase car rates as well as hide major mechanical issues on cars, the LGA alerted.

4 members of a Birmingham family were imprisoned a year ago for “clocking” 4 million miles off car odometers in exactly what was explained in court as an expert “operation”.
