Ford: P-51D “Ole Yeller” Show Plane with New Aircraft-Inspired Mustang

David BondFord9 years ago3 Views

Ford’s now yearly routine of developing an aircraft-inspired one-off Mustang to auction for charity located at the Oshkosh, Wisconsin, AirVenture reveal continues. The latest one is designed after Ole Yeller, the P-51D Mustang stunt airplane piloted by Bob Hoover.

Hoover’s airplane sports a bright yellow paint job with green lettering, and it maybe isn’t really the most beautiful palette Ford might have pulled from in developing its one-off Mustang. Starting with a yellow Shelby GT350, Ford fitted intense green neon underbody lighting, green-tinted window glass, and a tall and, you guessed it, green-accented wing. It’s all a bit much, however there’s no denying the visual association to the Ole Yeller plane. 2015’s Mustang Apollo Edition and 2012’s Red Tails Mustang were much more attractive.

There are more effective aspects of the car, consisting of the black-painted Forgiato wheels, 3D Carbon body package, Recaro seats, and the GT350’s standard six-speed handbook transmission. Looks aside, the Mustang is going to be auctioned off to support a great cause, and formerly auctioned aero-themed Mustangs have raised an overall of $3 million for charity.
