The Border Patrol states it has detained 2 males they believe tried to smuggle $3 million in cash into Mexico from California.

The agency states its agents tracked and stopped a Kia Forte in Escondido on Tuesday and discovered nearly $34,000 stashed in the vehicle’s center console.

Authorities state another car sped off as the very first car was stopped but it was later on discovered abandoned nearby.

The car, a Volkswagen Passat, had over $3 million crammed in boxes in the trunk. The driver was discovered hiding in some brush.

Both males – one from U.S.A and the other from Mexico have been arrested on suspicion of currency smuggling.
