Volkswagen chose against suing South Korea which suspended sales of most of its designs and fined 17.8 billion won ($15.93 million) on the German automaker.
Rather, Volkswagen will attempt to attain certification for the affected designs and resume sales quickly, than taking on a prolonged legal process, a representative for Volkswagen’s South Korean unit stated.
The government revoked certification for 80 models of Volkswagen, Audi and Bentley automobiles on premises that the German car manufacturer made certificates of car emissions and noise-levels.
At that time, Volkswagen remarked the ruling as “most severe” and said it would think about a legal challenge.
Volkswagen’s sales dropped 40 percent to 12,888 vehicles from January to July in South Korea, after rising 17 percent in 2015.
