2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Achieves NHTSA 5-Star Rating

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee once again made it after earning the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 5-Star safety rating. This marks the 4th successive year the SUV has been granted the honor. The NHTSA tests consist of a complete frontal accident test, side impact, and side effect pole test. Unlike the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tests, the NHTSA ratings do not consider sophisticated accident avoidance innovations such as automatic emergency braking (AEB), which is used as an alternative on the Grand Cherokee.

The 2017 Grand Cherokee has not presently been evaluated by the IIHS. The 2016 design got a leading “Good” rating in every classification other than the little overlap front test, which it got a “Marginal” ranking. The NHTSA 5-star score uses just to the 4×4 design. The 2WD Grand Cherokee accomplished a 4-star rating due to scoring lesser on the rollover test.

The forward crash caution and AEB system in the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee includes a brand-new “sensor-fusion” innovation, which integrates electronic camera and radar signals for a more accurate and precise measurement of speed and range to the security systems. The crash caution system is operable at all speeds, and full-stop emergency braking can be engaged at speeds below 25 miles per hour.
