ISRO to launch 83 satellites, they will be put in a single orbit

Indian space agency ISRO is going for a world record by taking into orbit 83 satellites – 2 Indian and 81 foreign – on a single rocket in early 2017, a leading official of Antrix Corporation stated.

He stated the agency’s order book stands at Rs 500 crore ($73.5 million) while settlements are on for launch order for another Rs 500 crore.

“Throughout the first quarter of 2017 we prepare to introduce a single rocket bringing 83 satellites. A lot of foreign satellites are nano satellites,” stated Rakesh Sasibhushan, an official of Antrix Corporation.

Antrix Corporation is the business arm of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Rakesh stated all the 83 satellites will be put in ibe orbit and therefore there will not be any switching on and off of the rocket.

The significant obstacle for the proposed goal is to hold the rocket in the very same orbit till all the satellites are ejected.

He stated ISRO will utilize its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle XL (PSLV-XL) rocket variation for the record launch.

For ISRO, launch of several satellites at one go is not a surprise as it has done that before.
