BMW Wins Case Against Chinese Clothing Companies Regarding Logo

2 Chinese clothes firms lost a lawsuit submitted by BMW over copying of its logo design.

Shanghai Intellectual Property Court stated that the two companies infringed BMW’s registered trademarks and capitalized on the brand name’s track record. BMW will now be paid ₤ 350,000 ($432,232) in negotiation, Shanghai Daily noted.

The Chinese business in question was founded in 2008 with a name Deguo Baoma Group which means ‘German BMW Group’, which authorized its brand name Chuangjia to utilize a logo design looking like BMW. The copied logo design had a an N in place of the W.

The copied logo design was utilized on various clothing items, consisting of shoes and bags, and over the period of its presence it was modified to look more like BMW’s logo design.
