There is official confirmation coming from the Romanian manufacturer Dacia that it will finally compete in the UK which is a right hand drive market. And the car that will mark the entry of Dacia in the UK is the Duster that will be available from 2012 onwards.
Though the company is yet to reveal the exact date on which the Dacia will be available in the UK or its pricing details, the company has already set up a website where interested buyers in UK will be able to register to get updates.
The Duster happens to be the cheapest SUV in the market. Its top of the line model retails for 16,630 Euros in Europe which is also roughly the price of most entry level models from competitors. Engine options for the Duster include a petrol engine rated at 1.6 16V 110hp and two diesel engines – the dCi 85 and dCi 110. These engines can deliver between 85 and 110hp, which by no means are impressive figures. However, these can seem promising if the car’s weight is taken into consideration, which has been reduced to 1,160kg for the 4×2 version and 1,250kg for the 4×4 version. All this makes the engines to be up to the task since there isn’t much weight to pull.
