Indian automaker Tata Motors stated it was set to launch the first vehicle under its new TAMO brand next month, with the brand name targeted at testing new technologies and allowing the automaker to become more responsive to changing market patterns.

“This is about evidence of concept … about bringing new technologies and concepts quickly to the market,” Managing Director Guenter Butschek informed reporters at an event in Mumbai.

“Eventually we will choose to take a few of these concepts into the mainstream,” he stated.

Butschek did not reveal how much has been invested up until now however the first car under the brand name will introduced for the 2017 Geneva Motor show in March, the company stated, without providing more information.

It has been reported that the first TAMO car will be a two-seater, mid-engined sportscar, internally called the Futuro.

Tata Motors is the owner of the British luxury automaker Jaguar Land Rover.

The company now anticipates TAMO to help it fulfill its target of turning into one of India’s three greatest automakers by the end of March 2019 as it helps rearrange the brand image.

Arranged like a start-up, TAMO could employ people from outside the industry who will focus on sourcing brand-new technologies and forming partnerships to establish new transport concepts, the company stated.
