An Auckland road police could not believe her eyes when she pulled over a four-wheel drive on the motorway past month.

Constable Sheryll Pearce was reacting to calls from concerned road users who identified the Nissan, carrying five adults and 8 unrestrained children.

Just 2 individuals were wearing seatbelts in the vehicle, which had two times as many people than seats.

Const Pearce informed the New Zealand Herald she couldn’t fathom how anybody thought it was a good idea.

“It’s unimaginable that adults who have kids they love could not care enough about ensuring their children were safe and secure. I was horrified,” she states.

“A single person in the automobile, a mother, believed breastfeeding her infant was okay and snapped at me for being distressed with them.”

“I was almost brought to tears by it, I was so mad and frustrated.”

The tourists understood the cop was concerned and apologized a lot for their actions.

The road users didn’t get off scot-free; they were provided 2 fines out of a possible 11.

Const Pearce said she might have fined them more, but wanted them to spend their money on child restraints instead – and ordered the household to acquire them instantly.
