Audi expects to sell one million units this year with the Audi A1 model likely to contribute the bulk of the cars. This was indicated by the Audi sales chief Peter Schwarzenbauer.

In the four weeks time that the A1 has been launched there has been a substantial increase in orders for the car. This rise has been unprecedented is the history of Audi for all its other models. Peter Schwarzenbauer has also stated that they expect a boost in sales of the A1 in Europe as well. They expect the total sales of their cars taking into consideration the A7 and A8 models along with the A1 model , to be 5.3 percent higher than 2009. Global sales of Audi cars were up by 15 % for the month of May than that in 2009 with 94,900 units being registered. China also made for 40% of the sales growth for Audi and has turned out to be the strongest market for Audi.
