AC Schnitzer ACS3 3.5d becomes fastest street-legal diesel car

by Sebastian Bivin

ACS3German tuner AC Schnitzer is proud to announce that the ASC3 3.5 D based on the BMW 335d is the fastest street-legal diesel car in ther world.

The Aachen based tuning house have broken the previous record by over 8.7 km/h, set in 2006, by reaching 288.7 km/h in their car, at the 13km long, Nardò circuit ring in southern Italy.

However, this is not a first time for AC Schnitzer. In 2006, they set the record for worlds fastest street-legal BMW, with the TENSION, based on the BMW 6 Series, which reached 331.78km/h at the  Nardò. Only to follow it up with another record in 2007 for the worlds fastest gas powered street-legal car with their GP3.10 GAS POWERED, based on the BMW 3 Series.Another impressive feat by them was by the AC Schnitzer ACS4 3.5 turbo based on the BMW Z4 SDrive35i which managed a top speed of 303.1 km/h, which although is not a record, is an impressive feat, almost unheard of, for a roadster such as it.

Although no other official performance figures have been released, AC Schnitzer have confirmed, that all the parts used on the record breaking car, are part of their extensive AC Schnitzer special accessory range and available for all vehicles based on the 3.5d engine. All parts are TÜV-approved and available from BMW dealers.
