Atomik releases photos of the Atomik Abarth 500

by Ron Grant

These are not renderings anymore of the electric Abarth 500 but in the flesh pictures taken somewhere over France.

The carmaker claims that their version of Fiat’s Abarth 500 will make one fall of his chair with its supercar performance in a very small city car body.

Given that it is an electric car, the Atomik 500 features a ton of technologies under its light weight skin. Let us try to list them down:

• LiFePO4 battery pack
• Ceramic heater
• Nomex/carbon rear chassis (Nomex is like Batman’s armor)
• Permanent AWD because of 2 new transmissions

The front wheels get some 80 kW of power and a massive torque of 619 pound feet. The rear also comes in around 80 kW but with a more powerful 1,261 lb-f of torque. Let us do the math and we will come up with around 215 horsepower and about 1,880 lb-ft of torque. Whew!

Atomik boasts that the Atomik 500 can zoom from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 5 seconds. Top speed should be at 200 km/h but limited electronically at 180 km/hr. The range of the car is expected to hit 200 km.

The Atomik 500 debuted vis-à-vis with the Fisker Karma, Tesla Roadster and other electric car buddies during the recent Top Marques Monaco auto show. The car’s skin is made of carbon fiber but you can have it custom painted to the color and finish of your liking.

Guessing by its specs and the materials used, the price range will be near the “you can’t afford it” and “sell your house, then maybe.”
