Audi has finally announced the price tag of its first electrified car. Dubbed as 2016 Audi A3 e-tron, the vehicle to start at $37,900 and probably may hit the US showrooms later this year in October.

The new car is a plug-in compact five-door hybrid equipped with 1.4-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine fitted with electric motor that offers 204 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

According to the auto giant, its A3 e-tron will come with a 8.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. Using a conventional 120-volt household outlet it takes eight hours for full charge. The charging time is lowered to about 2.25 hours at an optional Bosch 240-volt home charger.

Audi has not yet released information about the fuel efficiency of the car, but a hint reveals it to be between 16 and 19 miles under full charge condition.

The auto manufacturer showcased its first green car in 2009 under the same e-tron banner.
