As per a latest National Safety Council survey, 76 percent of moms and dads are unaware that the biggest danger to their teens’ security is the automobile sitting in the driveway, as car crashes remain to be the leading cause of death for teenagers. And this is not because they take more risks behind the wheel, but most often since they are just unskilled.

“Parents tend to worry most about the things we hear in the news, like cyber bullying and drug and alcohol use,” stated Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “But car crashes are the number one killer of teens. Ensuring our most vulnerable drivers safely gain the experience they need will result in more teens attending prom and graduation, not their friends’ funerals.”

The National Safety Council likewise warns that other teen travelers are among the biggest diversions for teenager motorists. Just one teenager traveler raises a teen driver’s fatal crash risk 44 percent, two travelers doubles the threat, while 3 or more quadruples it. It is likewise great to understand that the majority of fatal nighttime crashes including teenager motorists take place in between 9 p.m. and midnight. And the most worrying truth is over half of teenagers killed in car crashes were not using a seat belt.
