Car parts sculpture commemorates Queen Elizabeth’s automotive links

Queen Elizabeth‘s vehicle history has been honoured by a sculpture of her made totally of vehicle parts.

Kwik Fit, a vehicle servicing and repair firm in Britain, happened to produce the 3.5 by 2.5 sculpture which weighs 115 kgs and is named the “Queen of Parts” ahead of the queen’s 90th birthday celebrations soon.

The project is viewed as method of honouring her contribution to the World War 2 effort as a mechanic and motorist in the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS).

A team of 4 technicians lead by artist David Parfitt have dealt with the picture for over 280 man hours, utilizing over 800 specific parts consisting of lights from an Austin K2 truck, which the Queen ended up being familiar with throughout her time in the ATS.

It has been further reported that the sculpture utilizes 50 metres of cable televisions and hoses, 125 spark plugs, 60 gaskets, 150 washers, 24 pumps, 20m of leads, 10 headlights, 6 bumpers and many of springs, nuts and bolts.
