BMW is expected to be offering a facelift version of its 1-Series when the Detroit Auto Show event greets the public in January 2015. However, a prototype of the model has been spotted under tests ahead of that automotive exhibition event. The prototype spotted seems to wear a new front fascia. The headlamp clusters have been redesigned, to begin with. This new design is inspired by the company’s 2-Series vehicle lineup, it seems. They are now also accompanied by larger air intakes and a new front grille. As for the rear end of the vehicle, customers can expect new combination taillights and a rear bumper which looks to be more bulbous than before. Besides the exterior, the car has also been spotted with a new interior for the very first time ever.
It sports BMW’s latest version of the iDrive infotainment technology and it is likely that BMW will apply some changes, albeit minor ones, to the center console of the vehicle as well.
In terms of performance, the luxury German automaker does not seem to have any plans of increasing it. So, the vehicle model mentioned earlier will most likely come with 102hp engine which is available on the base trim, the 114i model. For those who search for the top trim of the 1-Series, they should take into consideration the M135i model, with a power output of 315 hp.
Speaking of the BMW 1-Series, the model turns out to have been one of the most favorite premium hatchbacks that money can buy, especially for fans of the luxury German automotive brand. The car is designated to rival the Mercedes-Benz A-Class (Germany), the Audi A3 Sportback (Germany), the Volvo V40 (Sweden) and the likes of them.
After all is said and done, the BMW 1-Series hatchback will seemingly be ready for order early 2015.
