An Italian automaker, Fiat, has finally made its long awaited model, the 500X, official in the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The model is the sixth generation of the Fiat 500 lineups and is a compact crossover unlike its elder siblings in the Fiat 500 lineups. As Fiat puts it, the 500X compact crossover is substantially different from the 500, 500C, 500L, 500L Trekking and 500L Living in terms of character and vocation. Yet, they all originate from the very same root, the Fiat 500 which has proven to be pretty iconic.

Fiat is currently planning to start mass production of the 500X compact crossover at its SATA plant which is located at Melfi, Italy. The Italian automaker is also planning to sell its latest compact crossover to at least a hundred countries in the world. Fiat unveils that there will be two versions of the model, a leisure model and a metropolitan model.

According to Fiat, customers can expect to get a 1.4L MultiAir II Turbo petrol engine. Thanks to its front-wheel-drive (FWD) drivetrain and a manual 6-speed transmission, this engine will have a power output of 140 hp in total. Yet, for customers that prefer an automatic model over the manual version, they can choose the 1.6L MultiJet II (120 hp) or the 2.0L MultiJet II (140 hp) engine, both of which come with a 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system and an automatic 9-speed transmission. Yet, for the more extreme options, customers can choose from three engine options. The first is the 1.6L E-torQ engine (110 hp) with an FWD drivetrain mated to a manual 5-speed gearbox. The other option is the 1.4L MultiAir II Turbo (170 hp) engine featuring an AWD drivetrain. Heck, there is even a 2.4L Tigershark engine bursting 184 hp in total.

Those are all for the petrol engine. Now, as for the diesel engine, customers can get the Fiat 500X compact crossover with a 1.3L MultiJet II (95 hp) engine, 2.0L MultiJet II (140 hp) engine, a manual gearbox with either 5 or 6 speeds, and also an AWD drivetrain.
