Ford Kuga finds more upgrades

With updated SYNC2 infotainment system and dual-zone environment control as conventional, the Kuga Ambiente surpasses Mazda CX-5 Maxx, Hyundai Tucson Active, Nissan X-Trail ST, Subaru Forester 2.5i-L and Toyota RAV4 GX, as per Ford.

The SYNC2 system comes with it an eight-inch colour touch screen that is bigger than all the rivals’, and the Kuga’s digital radio (DAB+) is not available in its competitors as basic device. Satellite navigation, which is sound-controlled in the Kuga, is yet another brand-new function for the Ford that’s not offered as basic in the competitors. Just the Forester matches the Kuga for dual-zone environment control, although the all-wheel drive Subaru is $3000 more pricey.

Existing devices that positions the Kuga Ambiente at the head of the pack consist of reverse parking sensors (also fitted to Tucson and RAV4), push-button starting (likewise offered with CX-5 and X-Trail), plus leather-bound wheel which is only functioned with Forester. Including a reversing video camera (along with DAB+) in November of last year has actually brought the Kuga Ambiente up to the same level as the rivals, on that score.

“Ford has made innovation readily available to millions since the Model T,” stated Ford Australia President, Graeme Whickman.

“The Ford Kuga continues in that tradition, even with the entry level Ambiente design that now will provide SYNC2, dual environment control, sat nav and reverse cam as standard functions.”

SYNC2 permits the driver to phone, play music, change interior temperature level settings and have text messages check out aloud … all hands-free. Sound control can also be utilized to get in a destination in the satellite navigation system.

The vehicles are currently in dealers display rooms, but the Ambiente versions are set to rise in rate by $1260 for each version from July 1. Pricing for the Kuga range (with post-July rates in brackets), is as follows:

* Kuga Ambiente front-wheel drive manual $27,990 ($ 29,250).
