General Motors CEO, Mary Barra’s salary increased by 77 percent

Salary of Mary Barra, General Motors CEO, increased by 77 percent as the automaker reported record sales on a greater need for light trucks.

The overall compensation package revealed in a regulatory filing Friday was $28.6 million. Barra earned $16.2 million last year; she took the CEO role on in 2015 and included a chairman title in January.

General Motors reported $2 billion in profits in the very first quarter, with improved outcomes anticipated for the rest of the year. This is the second year General Motors isn’t under executive pay guidelines set by the U.S. Treasury Department when it bailed out automakers in 2009.
