There are several reasons that you may need the help of car transport services. Some of the most common reasons include, you are buying a new or used car from a showroom that is several hundred miles away or you are selling a vehicle to someone who lives out of state.

The fact is that there are countless situations you may find yourself in, where you need to ship your car. If you are in that situation, the best thing you can do is hire an experienced auto transport service to do it for you.

Transporting a car can be an overwhelming procedure if you don’t know how the car transport business works. Many people know that there are major differences between shipping a car on an enclosed transport and an open transport, but there are also a lot of differences amongst the enclosed auto transport services companies offer. We, the experts at car transport services, created this article to help you understand the differences between car transport carriers and their different services.

Vehicle Shipping Process

After getting quote once you confirm your order and complete paperwork, the transport of your car will be planned according to the dates on your shipping order. After a trailer has been assigned, you will have a call from the driver to schedule the pick-up time. When the driver picks up your automobile he will do a complete examination of your car on the bill of lading. You both will sign it and you will get a copy. The same BL will be present on delivery so you can re-examine the automobile. The driver will call you at least 24 hours in advance to schedule an estimated time for delivery. It is very unlikely that your automobile will be damaged. If damage should happen, please be sure to note it on the bill of lading and have the driver sign it. Claims cannot be handled by the car transporters insurance company if damage is not noted at delivery time.

Safety Measures of Auto Transport to Protect Vehicles

1) – Vehicle Loading

Hydraulic lift gates, like the ones equipped on enclosed trailers, are the safest way to load an automobile and act as a lifter for the car during loading and unloading. They lower totally flat on to the ground, so low clearance cars can certainly drive on to the lift gate without the danger of scraping the undercarriage.

Lift gates also provide the driver more control over the vehicle when loading into the vehicle hauler. Instead of the driver being forced to gun it up two thin slopes like an open car carrier he can slowly drive it on to the lift gate and then off the lift gate. There are no slopes that require heightened acceleration, and the driver can get out, put wheel chocks behind the wheels, and gently load the vehicle on to the trailer totally in control.

2) – Securing Car inside Shipping Trailer

Cars are either protected inside trailers using chains or nylon straps. Chains are one of the dangerous ways of safeguarding a car for transport. They are usually secured over the axle or frame of the car. This compresses the suspension and puts a lot of stress on the car mainly if they are over tightened, which can lead to damage.

Nylon straps are the substitute to chains, but how they are used makes a big difference. Nylon straps can protect a car by going over the tire or through the rims. Going through the car’s rim has the danger of damaging the rim of the car. Auto transport companies secure vehicles by running the straps over the rubber of the tire posing no danger to the rim or car while still protecting the car in place.

3) – Insurance Coverage

All auto transport companies can’t have the same level of insurance coverage for your car during transport. Car shipping companies that have not much experience or ones that have a large numbers of claims may not be able to get good level of insurance coverage.  When speaking to different car transport services it is essential to inquire how much insurance coverage they carry for your vehicle
