Lamborghini Asterion to See Light of Day

by SpeedLux

For those who happened to attend the 2014 Paris Motor Show that took place in Paris, France, last October, they must still remember the stunning looks of the Lamborghini Asterion.

Unfortunately, despite what it has to offer, it is basically a concept vehicle to demonstrate the technology utilized by the Italian automaker on its vehicle lineups. As a matter of fact, even Stephan Winkelmann, CEO Lamborghini, claims that the car has no potential to be produced for the masses, ever. However, he may be wrong.

As pointed out by Maurizio Reggiani, the head of the R&D department at Lamborghini, the Italian car maker is in the process of negotiating about a suitable price tag it can possibly stick to its latest supercar model. As reported by the Autocar, quoting the company insiders, the car will be offered at a price tag similar to that of the Aventador. However, since the Asterion also comes with hybrid components, customers will most likely have to pay an additional sum of £350,000.

This latest hybrid supercar from the company packs a 5.2L V10 naturally aspirated engine under the hood. This makes it possible for the Italian raging bull in question to spit out 610 hp. In addition to that, the car also counts on a new 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission from

Lamborghini, a lithium-ion battery and two electric motors mounted at the front axle. With every element of the engine working hand in hand, the Lamborghini Asterion can actually burst out 910 hp of power output. In addition to that, it can reach a top speed of 320 km/h and to reach the speed of 100 km/h from a complete standstill, the car will not need more than mere three seconds.

By far, one interesting question is why the Italian automaker suddenly decides to mass produce the Asterion. This has something to do with the positive feedbacks it receives from the media around the globe.
