Land Rover turns 65, presents Defender LXV to celebrate

Land Rover is celebrating their 65th anniversary in style by introducing the Defender LXV special edition.

Defender LXV is expected to be offered in five different body styles. The model will have a Santorini Black or Fuji White exterior with Corris Grey accents on the roof, grille and headlight surrounds. It will also come equipped with a 16-inch Sawtooth-style alloy wheels.

In terms of interiors, the changes are quite limited but include leather seats, LXV embossed front headrests and orange contrast stitching.

The model would come fitted with a 2.2-liter diesel engine that is capable of generating 122 HP (90 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is well connected to a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. The Defender LXV will be able to accelerate to 0-60 mph in 14.7 seconds.

Land Rover also made an announcement of its plans to host a gathering at Packington Estate where the original prototypes were tested. Around 150 vintage Land Rovers will attend and they will be accompanied by the automaker’s current lineup as well as the Electric Defender prototype.
