LeEco makes its own self-driving electric concept car

It’s most likely for the Chinese company’s mobile phones if you understand LeEco at all. Or, perhaps you’ve caught wind of its video streaming services or wise tvs– it was known as LeTV till fairly recently, after all.

Those elements were present in an enormous Beijing press conference held earlier today (including a trio of brand-new smartphones that have done away with the earphone jack, in favor of USB-C), however the true emphasize came when a noticeably psychological CEO Jia Yueting revealed the LeSEE concept car.

After a fittingly remarkable promo video packed with unjustified shots of the concept automobile’s curves, Yueting hailed it on his phone utilizing voice acknowledgment, a nod to the business’s plan to market the LeSEE as a sort of futuristic, autonomous taxi.

Firm co-founder Ding Lei offered the general public its first peek as he drove it out on stage at a speed just appropriate in school zones and interview. Choking back and later excusing his tears, Yueting then ordered the vehicle to return and park itself.

The public will get a more detailed look at the LeSEE, at the upcoming Beijing Automobile Show– though the company did offer up some interesting bits about the autonomous concept car, consisting of a top speed of 130 MPH, an exterior screen on the front of the vehicle and a foldaway steering wheel.

There likewise seems to be a relatively excellent on-board entertainment system, including back-of-seat displays and isolated music playback, so passengers can listen to different things at the same time.

All this comes as stories coming in about that other consumer electronics maker that has actually apparently been gradually toiling away on an electrical car of its own for a long time. It should not be a total shock that LeEco got there initially. The firm has, after all, already dipped multiple toes in the water, both through its backing of Faraday Future’s buzzworthy concept and a joint endeavor with Aston Martin announced back in February.
