Lotus Teaser For 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show [Video]

by Ionut Dragomir

The British manufacturer Lotus has released a teaser video of one of their upcoming new models ahead of their Frankfurt Motor Show appearance.

The video clip features the new Lotus car and a pro boxer. Apparently Lotus has hired a David Lynch wannabe to direct it’s latest video, because we’re not exactly sure what’s going on here.

However, one thing it’s clear: the video shows a boxer preparing for a match with a car, while the vehicle in question it looks like a new Lotus Exige or Lotus Evora GTE.

Lotus stated:
“Make the rules. Break the rules. More Lotus than EVER. In the fight for Frankfurt there are no rules. Only what a person can do and what a person can’t.
But what have Lotus done this time? Are the rules about to be re-written?
There’s only one way to find out: 9.00am (CET), 13 September: Frankfurt Motor Show Hall 5, Stand B02Let the games begin.”

GTspirit claims that they’ve checked the cars registration details and resulted that the car in the video is the 2012 Lotus Exige! If the car from the video is the 2012 Lotus Exige, expect it to come with the same V6 engine as also found in the bigger Evora. That would mean a 3.5 liter V6 producing 280 horsepower in the normal version and 350 horsepower in the S version.

Rumor say that the new car will come with a starting price of $80-85,000, but this remain to be seen.
