Maserati planning smaller sports car, LaFerrari-based supercar won’t happen

by SpeedLux

A representative from Maserati recently stated that the company is planning of building a new smaller sports car for 2016.

Maserati’s chief Harald J. Wester had earlier expressed his desire for such a new model and now Maserati Europe’s General Manager Giulio Pastore has confirmed a year after the launch of the new GranCabrio and GranTurismo in 2015 that Maserati could introduce a smaller sports car in the coming years.

The to-be-developed sports car will be a mid-engined, two-seater but won’t be based on the recently introduced Alfa Romeo 4C as Giulio said that it would require them to create a sportier and all-new body for Maserati which will involve more efforts and cost probably. He further stated that the company isn’t working on a LaFerrari-based supercar as of now despite recent rumors making rounds.
