McLaren 12C GT3 in Pirelli World Challenge Series

by SpeedLux

McLaren 12C’s GT3 racing version has been finally approved to take part in the race in America and the first series in which it will participate is the Pirelli World Challenge Series. It is surely not as attractive looking as ALMS but it is a support race car for the Izod IndyCar series.

In the first year of its existence itself, the McLaren 12C GT3 achieved 19 victories and 19 podium finishes in Europe. However, 2012 was more of a testing year for McLaren for this car and on the basis of the tests and results; they have improvised and made it better.

Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren Group CEO also stated that McLaren has a very illustrious racing history in America with the company having won 43 record titles in the iconic Can-Am series and five championships between 1967 and 1971 for which the credit goes to the founder Bruce McLaren and his team-mate Denny Hulme.
