Nissan to start resuming of U.S. auto plants on June 1

Japanese automaker Nissan Motor stated on Wednesday it prepares to start resuming its closed U.S. auto manufacturing operations from June 1.

Nissan’s vehicle assembly plant located in Canton, Mississippi and powertrain plant in Decherd, Tennessee plant to restart production on June 1, followed by its Smyrna, Tennessee vehicle assembly plant on June 8. The Infiniti Decherd powertrain plant restarted limited production on May 1.

Majority of U.S. auto industry plants have resumed after closing in March but with limited shifts.

The government and automakers had enforced shutdowns of factories to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

About 1,735,859 people in the US have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 101,762 people in the country.
